Libelous

This cartoon was not libelous but it was in court before a judge for copyright infringement. A trade magazine literally cut the cartoon out of The Chicago Daily News (with my signature) and reprinted it in their publication.When I brought it to their attention they refused to pay for use and I took them to small claims court, sued and won. The judge was shocked that this would even be before him especially when I put all the evidence, the original, the Daily News and their publication on the judges bench. NOTE: This was my VERY first professional cartoon just a couple of months (Aug.'76) out of college.
