Killed
Why It Was Killed
The only time most cartoonists can ever hope that the president of the United States will ever see their graphic commentary is the day that they visit their city. Bush the elder was visiting Spokane to plant an Elm tree with our Congresman Foley in Riverfront Park. I felt this cartoon was successful in expressing my opinion that I didn't agree with the president's self-proclaimed title of Environmental President. Upon submitting the cartoon the editor exclaimed that WE are NOT going to slap the President's face on THE VERY day that he visits Spokane!!
This is a great example of censorship based not on taste or libel but on personal political beliefs.
So much for a free American press.
